“Ho'okahi la o ka malihini” A stranger for only a day
This Tuesday the High School Hawaiian Language Students had a cultural exchange with the Japan Maritime students studying at KCC. The Japan Maritime students taught our students a common folk dance that we likened to the process of a hukilau. ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi students along with Kumu Kanānāikahaku taught our visitors how to introduce themselves in Hawaiian. The next day, Hawaiian Language students presented speeches in ʻŌlelo on their friends from Japan. They joined the high school students for lunch and got to interact with students at lunch recess.
