Community Tour Opportunity to France!

Katie Johnson and Pat Gegen are organizing an educational tour to France available to the Island School
community during October break 2025. Katie Johnson is a current parent at Island School, and Pat
Gegen is an alum parent and current World History and History Department Chair at Island School.
Through a renowned educational travel program, Passports Educational Group Travel, Katie and Pat will
lead this private tour group experience to explore the historical sites, culture, and beauty of Paris and
the Normandy, Brittany and Loire Valley regions of France. Tour highlights include visits to the Eiffel
Tower, the Louvre Art Museum (where Mona Lisa is housed), the D-Day Beaches of Normandy, Mont-
Saint-Michel, the walled seaside city of St. Malo, the Château de Chenonceau, a Troglodyte Cave and a
Seine River Cruise. The tour culminates with a free day in Paris where tour participants can opt to spend
the day engaging in an activity of their choosing such as: shopping, visiting art museums, visiting the
Palace of Versailles or even going to Disney Paris!

While open only to members of the IS community (students, parents/family members, staff,
alumni/family members), this is a distinctive invitation to participate in this independent travel program.
Potential travelers should plan to attend the informational meeting on Monday, November 4th, at 6pm
at Island School in the Ulu classroom (directly behind the basketball court) to learn more about the
tour and potential fundraising possibilities.

If you will be attending the meeting, please email Katie Johnson at ktngarrett1@hotmail.com so that she
can plan accordingly. If you have questions beforehand, or are unable to attend the meeting, you may
also email Katie for more information. The tour registration deadline is Monday, November 11, 2024.
