Winter Sports Wrap Up

As the winter sports season comes to a close, we recognize the dedication, perseverance, and outstanding achievements of our Voyager athletes and coaches. This season was filled with challenges, triumphs, and history in the making, as our basketball, paddling, soccer, and swim teams battled through injuries and adversity while representing Island School with pride.

Mix Paddling KIF Champions Headed to States

Congratulations to our mixed paddling team, who captured the KIF Championship title and will proudly represent the KIF and Island School at the HHSAA State Championships this Saturday, February 8, at Keʻehi Lagoon on Oʻahu. Preliminaries begin at 9 AM, and the team has trained tirelessly for this moment. Best of luck to Nola Brown, Keala Doyle, TaiMana Kjeldsen, Jude Washburn, Elijah Enoka, Max Evslin, Kea Eu-Parziale, Mia Javellana, Ruby Swartz, and Ilihia Ventura.

Girls Swimming Wins Fourth Straight KIF Title

Our girls swimming team made history yet again, led by senior TaiMana Kjeldsen, as they secured their fourth consecutive KIF title in an unbelievable display of excellence - you had to be there. With only five swimmers, the Lady Voyagers had to be perfect - and perfect they were. Their grit and determination earned them a spot at the State Swimming Championships at UH Mānoa Duke Kahanamoku Swim Aquatics Center on Saturday, February 15. Congratulations and good luck at States to TaiMana Kjeldsen, Hannah Hovland, Maiha Kjeldsen, Eva-Rose Rapp, Xochitl Morales-Widmer, and boys state qualifier and individual champion Sean Lottermoser.

Girls Basketball

This winter marked the long-awaited return of girls basketball after a 15-year hiatus, a major milestone for the program and an inspiration for future generations of Voyager athletes. The team made an immediate impact, stunning the league with back-to-back upset victories to start the season. Their competitive spirit and strong core of young talent lay the foundation for a promising future. With renewed momentum, Voyager girls basketball is here to stay.

JV Girls Paddling Dominates KIF

Our JV girls paddling team continued their dominance, securing the title of top girls paddling team in the KIF for the second consecutive year. Their championship victory is a testament to their hard work and competitive drive. As they prepare to move up to the varsity level, the future looks bright for girls paddling, with another KIF title within reach.

Voyagers Compete

Across all our winter sports - basketball, paddling, soccer, and swimming - our teams displayed resilience and determination, leaving it all on the field, the court, and the water week after week, no matter the challenges they faced. We commend every athlete and coach for their unwavering commitment and relentless hard work, which continue to define who we are as Voyagers.
