May Day is Lei Day in Hawai‘i. You wonʻt want to miss one of Island Schoolʻs most festive and entertaining annual all-school events. This yearʻs May Day theme celebrates Queen Lili‘uokalani, whose music will be featured throughout the show.
Students in each elementary and middle school grade have been learning their dances and gathering their costumes for their performances. There will also be performances by our high school ukulele band, Na Pua O Kauai (our halau directed by Kumu Kauka), and our seniorsʻ presentation – which is always a big hit. The show also features live Hawaiian music, amid flowers adorning the Wilcox Gym.
All are invited, There is no charge. School begins at the regular time; the program begins at 8:30. School will be dismissed after the program is finished. Immediately following is our May Day Lu‘au (see flyer below).
