Middle & High Compete in State Science Olympiad

The Middle & High School Science Olympiad Teams returned from an amazing weekend on O‘ahu after competing at the state tournament at Mililani High School. The weekend was packed full of team-building activities, some free time, preparation and, of course, a full day on competition on Saturday.

Our high school team brought home 2nd place medals in astronomy and 3rd place medals in experimental design. Our tower didn’t win an award because the competition was fierce, but it only weighed 17g and it held all 15kg of  sand!! The students learned so much, and have a new plan for their tower for next year.

The high school team also won the spirit award. This award is voted on by all the organizers and volunteer event supervisors. The event supervisors said our students were friendly and helpful to other teams. Our students shook hands with each event supervisor and thanked each volunteer for their work at the event.

Our Middle School team came in 5th overall out of 17 teams and our Disease Detective and Rocks and Mineral Team brought home bronze and silver metals respectively.

Thanks to all the students and families who dedicated their time and energy into making it happen. A huge mahalo to Joe Corbo, Traci Sullivan and Bruce Hogue, three of the best coaches you could find anywhere. Thanks also to Keyk Capati for helping chaperone and helping out with many of the logistics.
