KIF Update: week of February 13

 

Swimming: Coach Shannon Wigent

Henry Scherer ’19 swam well last weekend at the state championships. He finished 22nd in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.69, his 2nd fastest time in this event. Henry finished 19th in the 500 free with a time of 5:07.48 which is his fastest time in this event. Mahalo Coach Wigent for a great swimming season!

Friday is the last day for students to commit to Spring Sports.

Boys JV and Varsity Volleyball

Open to High School Boys.
This week- Monday and Tuesday, 3:15pm-4:45pm, Thursday, 3:15pm-6pm.
Practices will be in the Wilcox Gym.

Track and Field: Coach Eric Wortmann, Jerry Jona

Open to all High School Boys and Girls.
Monday, 3:15-5:00
The schedule for the rest of the week will be announced at Monday’s practice.
Meet in the front of Wilcox Gym.

Golf: Coaches Sam Pratt & Alan King

Open to all High School Boys and Girls.
Practice will start on Monday the 13th.
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 3:15 to 5-ish.
Meet at Puakea Golf Course.

Tennis: Coaches Marcus Tingle and Brittney Hatzell

The Voyagers beat ? in this past Sunday’s pre-season tennis match! Way to start spring sports!

Practices: M/W/Th/Fri 3:15-5:15
Practices will be at KCC Tennis Courts. Students who need to catch the 5pm Northbound Bus will need to let the coaches know so they can be release earlier. Three of the four days of practice are mandatory.  Please talk to the coaches if you have any conflicts for which you can not make it to all three practices.

Middle/Elementary School Sports

Volleyball Club – Grades 7 & 8:  Leah Edwards
Team Island U13’s won both games at this weekend’s Power Tournament! U14’s played great volleyball but were unable to secure a win.

Practice this week:

  • Wed 3:15-5:15
  • Fri. 4:45-6:45

This Saturday Power Tournament at Southside Sports Center.  Time to be determined.

Boys Basketball – Grades 4-8 – Coach Lopaka “Paka” Searle

This past weekend, Island School’s largest representation competed in The County of Kaua‘i “Skillz Challenge” at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.

Mahalo to Voyager parents & supporters who cheered on our middle schoolers. Next year, we are looking to compete in all events at every grade level.
